Herzliya, Israel – November 8, 2006 - Attendees at Telecom Israel 2006, currently being held at the Tele-Aviv Fairgrounds, are among the first to experience a new WiFi system giving them broadband access throughout the entire exhibition space. InspiAir, a technology leader in the Municipal wireless network market, today announced the successful deployment of its technology at the fairgrounds, Israel’s main exhibition space, providing broadband wireless Internet access to exhibitors and attendees of the Telecom 2006 show.
While attendees appreciate the ability to connect laptop computers and mobile devices while attending the show, exhibitors often also need wireless connections to demonstrate their technologies or communicate with headquarters. The InspiAir WiFi technology provides an excellent solution for both types of users. It delivers a real-time, triple-play experience of voice (VoIP), video and data, and overcomes the challenge of hundreds of simultaneous users, multiple wireless systems deployed by exhibitors and other potential interference that can occur in a limited area. With the system’s own inherent scalability, InspiAir can support and accommodate different needs at future Fairgrounds events.
“Tel-Aviv Fairgrounds is a great example of how InspiAir’s technology can bring high-performance WiFi to challenging environments in a cost-effective manner,” said Tamir Galili, InspiAir’s chief executive. “InspiAir is excited to provide Telecom 2006 attendees with real broadband access, wirelessly.”
InspiAir was selected for its superior performance and broader range of capabilities compared to other WiFi systems. Also, InspiAir’s unique technology enabled show organizers to create a working broadband wireless network from purchase order to full deployment in four days—a process that might take weeks with other systems.
Before selecting InspiAir, a variety of different wireless technologies were tested during a series of closed trials. Due to strong RF interference from other WiFi access points, competing vendors required time-consuming and meticulous channel planning and the deployment of more than 25 WiFi access points in each hall to meet the requirement of serving several hundred concurrent users. InspiAir’s installation required only four access points per building to deliver both indoor and outdoor high-speed Internet access.
Furthermore, InspiAir’s system provided superior levels of WiFi connectivity resulting in faster connection speeds that are in the 512Kbps range. That and InspiAir’s low latency (less than seven milliseconds) out-performed the competition, delivering superior performance for real-time applications such as VoIP and streaming video.
After testing a variety of potential WiFi solutions, show organizers were impressed by InspiAir’s superior performance that addressed their precise needs. By using only four InspiAir access points to cover an entire exhibition hall, delivering an extremely cost-effective solution. InspiAir was able to provide continuous connectivity—even outdoors, although all access points were installed inside.
The InspiAir system will remain in place at the Tel-Aviv Fairgrounds after the close of this week’s conference, offering attendees at other Fairgrounds events the same level of wireless access enjoyed by Telecom Israel 2006 participants.
